  • This is my first and likely only Yelp review as I am not someone who is hard to impress. I tend to come here more for restaurants in NYC and not for clubbing. However, I am so disgusted by our treatment here that I feel like I have to write about it. We were staying at the Aria (amazing place, highly recommend the hotel and Haze club) this past August (i never verified my email and this review just posted, sorry) and we were grabbed by an in house promoter with open bar bracelets. We get to the door to find it was a $30 cover for guys and $20 for girls, and only girls drink for free and only with usage of drink tickets. Whatever, still not a bad deal. I went to the bar and ordered two drinks, one for myself and one for my boyfriend, and used one free drink ticket and paid for the other. Aside from the wait being ridiculous despite there being NO ONE at the bar, and for the drinks being exceptionally weak, a few minutes later the drink my boyfriend paid for was ripped from his hand by a bouncer. Apparently, open bar drinks are served in plastic cups and guy's drinks in glasses, but the bartender assumed my BLUEBERRY STOLI AND SODA was for a guy and put it in a glass cup without explaining this caveat. The bouncer was rude and confrontational despite the fact that i was clearly drinking from a glass cup (when girls are allowed to drink free from plastic cups) and thus it was clearly was mix up. He dragged us out of the dance floor and screamed at us some more. When he wasn't comprehending what we were saying, we tried explaining it to the manager on that evening and he said i should be drinking from the plastic cup. When i again explained i wanted the drink in the glass cup and that I was not aware I had to explain to the bartender ahead of time what drink was supposed to be in what cup, he still insisted we switch drinks despite paying for our fair share of beverages. We promptly left. Not sure why yelling at paying customers is part of their business model, but i would highly recommend going to Haze which is much larger, much more fun, and has much better drinks.
