  • Disclaimer: I like France, French people, and I think what they have had to endure recently is tragic. I suspect there are a few French persons who are rude and they sort of gave the country that reputation. Paris Hotel - Gold medalist winner of the 2015/ 2016 fine print award with a special award for perpetuating the message "the French are rude. The Paris Hotel in Vegas conveys the message that If you want to meet rude French people, now you no longer need to travel to France, you merely need to go to the Paris hotel in Las Vegas. First the Pros because to be fair something deserves a compliment. That goes to the restaurant on the Eiffel Tower. Awesome food, and the waiters are polite, helpful knowledgeable, all good. Even the guy who brings rolls, water and coffee refills was awesome, Eat there but do not stay there. and now the Cons: I hope we have enough space. Rude Check-in. I genuinely thought the rude front desk person was joking around, with the rudeness, the insults and the like, I thought it was just part of the show. But I was wrong, she was rude, and she was not playing around. For a fee I was allowed to upgrade sounds nice right? but in the upgrade the hotel removed 1 of the beds. So two beds for the normal room become 1 bed in the "upgrade" Well that is not really an upgrade is it? Try and imagine sharing a bed with your grown children and spouse. Got the idea? I love my family but not to the point I want all 4 of us in a single bed. Well the rude front desk person was clueless to the idea maybe I booked two beds in the first place for a reason. She just could not get it through her head that maybe I did not want the upgrade if we had to jam all of us into 1 bed. Ok enough about me. Here is why YOU should not stay here. the fine print. The rate you think you are paying based upon their website is NOT what your credit card gets charged. Let's expose these crooks shall we? 1) There is a resort fee. What does resort fee mean? it means use of that closed pool, closed because it is 35 degrees outside, Resort fee is for the use of the health club, you know the one, closed for upkeep during your stay, yeah that one, Resort fees by the way work out to about 18% to 22% of your bill, 2) parking fee- even if you do not use parking there mere fact that THEY have a garage means YOU get charged a parking fee. 3) Early arrival fee- Check in before 2pm and you get charged $22 for the early check in. But guess which days the early check in applies? come on, think, hint, it is not the obvious..... the fee is applied to ALL YOUR DAYS of your stay, so check in at 1:35 PM on day 1 and $22 a day is added to your bill. ------========-------- The room itself was not too bad but I will give it 3 stars not the 4 stars the hotel websites claim, the carpet is old, dark and gross, the furniture is chipped in places, The wall paper is scratched. These are not show stoppers but lets face it, the 4 stars is not valid, more like 3. The bathroom though was okay, very pretty marble, nice to have the shower apart from the tub, water pressure is weak but hey we are in a drought and they are doing their part. the hottest level of hot water was warm but not hot, not bad, but if you want that soothing feel, not this shower, The hotel, like many hotels, under-stocks the soap, shampoo and towels so you end up calling down for more, and then you feel obligated to tip the poor SOB who at 6pm has to hike it up to our room with bathroom supplies. The mini fridge was a nice surprise though. The shopping and the mall area is not bad, good crepe place, and a pretty walk about. Like I said, okay to eat there just do not stay there. ======--------======== In conclusion: Given the prices quoted will be understated from reality, I would suggest if considering the Paris hotel in Las Vegas, take the price you are quoted online, mark it up 35% or so, then take that newly calculated value, and compare it to 3 star hotel options in Vegas during your trip, Then you are on equal par. And if you do stay there, and you see it is your turn to check in, avoid the woman who is about 50 years old, dark hair, about 5 foot 3 tall, and just looks "French" she will ruin your stay, unless of course you get off being treated rudely. by the way on our last day we walked over to the Venetian, WOW what a mall area.
