| - This wasn't a Yelp find for me. In spite of folks telling me to pass on Primanti Bros., curiosity won out in the end. I had been looking for a location close to the turnpike (I was heading home to South Jersey) and ended up in Monroeville. As I waited for my to-go sandwich, I zoomed in on Google maps and found this place just up the street. And so I stopped in.
It was midday on a Friday but the bakery was packed with customers. I queued and took a number (but they weren't calling numbers) and started to browse. The folks working know how to keep the line moving, and so, before I knew it, they were asking what I wanted.
Unfortunately in bakeries, I tend to lack effective decision making skills. I was purchasing goods for my mother as well and trying to think of what she'd like most. If I hadn't felt rushed quite as much, I probably would have doubled my order. [So it's probably good in this situation!] As it was, I ended up purchasing a big pack of sugar cookies (delicious!), about a dozen individual cookies from the case (generally a fan), and two slices of cake (raspberry and lemon -- sooo good!).
My bill was about $30, which was certainly higher than I expected but understandable for the quality of the sweets. They have much more variety available than just cookies and cakes, too, including cannolis and pizzelles. It seems like an excellent choice for Italian baked goods in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
