I'm pretty sure this place takes inspiration from David Lynch. If you can imagine a wine bar with a toned-down Lynchian style, then you are imagining this very place.
Red velvet curtains? Check.
Dark wood interior? Check.
Just a titch above actual darkness in some areas inside? Check.
Located in an area where nothing else seems to be open after dark? Check.
Art on the walls that is vaguely unsettling but you're not sure why? Check.
A substantial wine list full of things you've probably never heard of if you're not a wine snob? Check.
A bathroom with fun things like mints, tampons, condoms, lotion, hairspray, toothpicks, and other complimentary items? Check.
It is exactly what it says on the tin: a wine bar. There's all the wine! The servers are knowledgeable and able to answer your questions and recommend you a good wine. I enjoyed the wine I had, though this was the last stop of the night for me so I only had one. I didn't have any food, but the pictures of the cheese plates fascinate me.
I definitely want to spend more time here the next time I'm in town.
