| - I originally visited Rosen's back when it was just a pop-up, and the buns weren't that great then. I had high hopes that on opening her shop, the buns would be much improved! But I have to agree with previous reviewer David N. These cinnamon buns just aren't that special - they are dry, harder and more bread-y than dessert-y, and there isn't nearly enough icing. I would also add that there isn't enough filling, just plain not enough cinammon-y goodness. I prefer a slightly softer, more sticky flavourful cinnamon bun with more toothsome dough, gooey-er filling and more substantial icing. I'm not talking about Cinnabon overkill disgusting cloying style, but there is a balance to be found, and this is not it. One last major gripe - the bun I was served was stone cold. If you are going to have a dedicated cinnamon bun storefront, those puppies should sure as hell be served warm. Or offer to heat them up! Sheesh. For all of the above reasons, I maintain that Home Baking Co. is still hands down the best cinnamon bun in Toronto.
