  • I'm comparing this review of Blue Chip to the company I used for my last windshield replacement King Windshields. My experience setting up and getting the windshield for my Subaru BRZ replaced for both companies were essentially the same. Blue Chip took the effort to let me speak to the owner who answered my specific questions about quality and my "perfectionist" requests and did so professionally, I was not demanding by any means I just wanted to make sure they weren't going to screw it up like King Windshield did. King Windshield didn't ask if I had any questions and I didn't have any to ask anyway. King Windshields used a universal foam-like wrap around the edge of the glass, it was cut into shape and looked terrible because of the gaps on the corners. It also turned out that they didn't take off the front plastic guard between the hood and the windshield is and didn't sufficiently seal the bottom of the windshield, causing wind noise that I didn't even realize was there after I got my windshield properly replaced by Blue Chip. King Windshield after replacing the windshield did not know (at the time neither did I) to replace a one-time-use, soft metal ingot that connects the rear view mirror to it's base on the windshield, as a result the rear view mirror wobbled, shook, had to be repeatedly repositioned after every speed bump. I repeatedly told King that this is an issue that wasn't there before they replaced it, so it's their problem to fix. King tried denying it for weeks before they finally agreed and bought a new rear view mirror for it - the whole assembly. They asked me to pay the $25 or whatever for parts and I said no, after some tense arguments I got them to just give it to me and I replaced it myself. After all was said and done I had to drive to their office at least 4 times and spend at least a total of an hour over the phone in repeated phone calls just to get a dumb 1" piece of silver soft metal to get my rear view mirror from not wiggling. Blue Chip's owner after I asked about that soft metal ingot simply said "we know about it and we'll have that piece there and replace it." Blue Chip also used a BRZ windshield specific wrap and it looked just like it did from the factory and I had no idea there was that type, I thought it was all "universal". Here's the real surprise though. The day before the replacement, I had my windshield fully tinted at my favorite tint place Cactus Tint which cost me $233 after tax... WITHOUT EVEN ASKING, Blue Chip talked to my insurance company and got them to approve the tint as part of my claim and got me a reimbursement check for the whole amount! Shocked was the word. Hopefully I don't need to replace my windshield again but if I do, I won't hesitate to call Blue Chip.
