| - came on Christmas Day for dinner with the fam. i knew it was going to be a bit of a wait because of their "no reservations" policy, so we were prepared for the hour-long wait time ahead of us. we hunkered down at the bar for some soju & appetizers (dumplings, chili-garlic chicken wings, both great) and patiently waited for our table to be ready. *highly* recommend the apple soju, it was like boozy apple juice, not too sweet and dangerously delicious.
when we finally sat down we were STARVING; luckily our free sides were already at the table waiting for us and the plates of food started flowing immediately. we ordered the Meat Lover's package for 4 people and it was so much deliciousness that we had to tap out before we could crush it all.
highlights for me were the bulgogi, the spicy BBQ pork, the macaroni salad, the spicy cucumber, and the chili-garlic dumplings. we also checked in on Yelp for the free macaron ice-cream sandwich. (i got the coffee flavor and it was RIDIC.)
service was great; very attentive but barely noticeable throughout the meal. (ie: whenever we wanted a refill of something it was brought very quickly, our empty plates were quietly whisked away, when we asked for a fresh grill-top it was brought over immediately, etc.) considering it was a *very* busy Christmas Day service i'd say the staff ran like a well-oiled machine.
our total bill for the Meat Lover's package for 4 (with extra sides of asparagus & zucchini), plus chicken wings/dumplings/edamame at the bar, plus 1 beer, 2 bottles of soju, and 2 glasses of wine all came to $175 which is a pretty sweet deal imo. ($43/person + tip for a fully loaded Xmas dinner + enough booze that some of us had to Uber home? lol yes plz.)
my family had never been to a KBBQ before so i was very excited to introduce them to a new experience and Gangnam definitely delivered! everyone left fat and happy. :)
