  • My boyfriend and I stayed here this weekend while in town for a friend's wedding. There were a few very good things about the hotel, namely the free wireless internet, which worked great, and the fact that they let us check in very early (before 9 am). We really appreciated this, since we were coming in off a red-eye. There are also free cookies in the lobby in the afternoons, which is nice. However, there were a number of other things about the hotel that made us very unhappy. The biggest problem was there there were extremely loud drunk people in a room nearby ours for several hours on Saturday night, and despite repeated calls to the front desk, nothing was done about them until after 3:30 AM. I had to wake up before 9 AM to go to the wedding, and ended up having bags under my eyes in photos and being very cranky due to lack of sleep. When I called security they kept apologizing but didn't actually DO anything (at least not until more than 5 calls by me and other people). At one point when I asked why they couldn't kick the people out, they told me "Sorry, we just got a taxi load full of drunk people." Huh? What does this have to do with their ability to kick people out? And why would you even let people who are obviously intoxicated & rowdy check-in in the first place? Every hotel has to deal with this type of situation, but they didn't seem to deal with it very well. Other things that were less of a big deal but were still very annoying: 1) the thermostat in our room was really weird and was running the heat or AC at all times. If it was on 75 and the heat was running, we would turn it down to 74 and the AC would immediately start running. We constantly alternated between hot and cold and woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat & freezing cold. It was a very bad system. 2) TripAdvisor reviews indicated that free breakfasts were available to AAA members, but we couldn't get that promotion because we booked through Expedia, which sort of sucked. We had the breakfast anyway though, since it was a good deal ($13 full buffet), and it was very good. 3) The neighborhood is a bit dodgy. It's centrally located (only about 5 blocks from Dundas Sq) but the area isn't great, and I wouldn't have wanted to be out walking at night.
