Finally a Vietnamese place that doesn't focus on pho. In fact, they don't even have pho on the menu. If I'm going to be eating in Mekong, this is my restaurant of choice. The broken rice plates are huge. 2 people can easily be stuffed with the 7 item combo. The menu looks scary, but it's just permutations of the toppings on your rice.
Another dish I often get is noodle soup with pig's foot and blood cubes. Yes, it sounds scary, but it's really satisfying. Fat slippery noodles. Porky meat. Blood cubes kind of taste like iron-y tofu. The last time I went though, they had really large chunks of blood so it didn't absorb the broth flavor as much. All other times I've ordered it though, the cubes have been smaller so it isn't as overwhelmingly....blood-y.
