I was in Charlotte for the weekend and friends suggested that we eat dinner at their favorite restaurant, Bistro La Bon. I was a little concerned when I saw it was in a strip mall, but this is definitely a book that cannot be judged by its cover. The inside was deceptively large and decorated in such a way that the one large open space would easily be divided in case of large private parties.
Perusing the menu, my sister and I decided to choose a few options and split them. We ended up with the brie brulee (our friends shared an order, too), the gnocchi, and the squash lasagna. Three small plates were basically licked clean and we waddled out completely satisfied. Our friends also had the brussel sprouts and each had an order of the lavender chicken, which they swear is their favorite entree on the menu.
Our waters were constantly magically filled by the attentive staff and we always had fresh plates for our next course. I was really very impressed with this hidden spot and am hoping to return for the lavender chicken in the future.
