  • Decent staff, incredible maintenance staff but I do not recommend living here unless you are by yourself and hate your life and social life. I moved into an apartment with OLD CARPET. It was probably only cleaned thoroughly before moving in. It was not new. I as a first time renter was completely oblivious. If you plan on moving in, I highly suggest you look over these things and take them seriously because regardless of the carpet's condition, they will charge you for it regardless! This comes from hearing the same exact thing from previous renters. Do not bother to clean the carpets before moving out either. You will just be 60 dollars screwed for renting a steam cleaner and product. There is no chance of having a social life because even having one friend over is "too loud" and security will knock on your door 2 hours after your guest has left, which in result makes security pointless. As a quiet person I couldn't even have a friend over to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio without getting complained on by my neighbor below. The next day, my door would be covered with notices saying exactly "THIS HAS TO STOP. NOW". Unprofessional, unfriendly and put me in an extreme uncomfortable position making me feel as if I was being monitored 24 hours in my own home. I continued even to be specifically more quiet when I had friends over..and still MORE COMPLAINTS, MORE NOTICES. So do not expect to have a social life. Not to mention, everything every where else on property is closed at 10 o'clock. No media room, pool, or park access. Just a parking garage. I felt like I was in a senior living home. I do not recommend dogs. Any dogs. Small or Large. They charge a 225 dollar FEE. Not deposit. Which means you will not get that money back. They will openly tell you that at the office. The problem is after paying several months of "pet rent" at 25 dollars, you will find at the end of your lease that none of that money from the FEE and the RENT are NOT used towards ANY damages. Maybe this is another first time renter experience of mine that I was unaware of. Obviously all that money forked out was used for nothing more than just profit. These apartments are no sort of "upscale" living. Do not let it's flashy look suck you in. I have probably seen LVMPD in that neighborhood 7 or 8 times living there in one year. I am pretty sure there is a HANDFUL of section 8 housing available. There are shopping carts on every single floor because people are far too lazy to grab their belongings by hand and take them inside. The carts are a great idea for use, but no one can be trusted to obviously return them back to the store they STOLE it from. Late at night all you can here is the shopping carts banging on the flooring in the hallway. Parking sucks. You park in a parking garage and you live on the fourth floor be prepared to have a little nausea when you get up there. The cool part is, you're on the top floor, the parking is covered and it gives you less worry about your car being out in the open like in most complexes. The downside is, the parking permits distributed from the office only do so much for you. People with no parking permits had their way and parked where residents were only permitted to park. Nothing was enforced until the last 2 months or so before the ending of my lease. 10 months living there, finding a decent parking spot close to the door to enter the hallway which I had to walk down was very frustrating. I was a month out until my lease and a pro rated amount of rent was to be discussed before leaving. The office staff did not make a single attempt to talk to me about a pro rated amount. My last half month there I paid my full rent with pet rent included and received a balance to pay of 215 dollars. I was more than willing to pay that amount directly to Alta Montecito. As my lease ended mid August, I told the assistant manager I would pay no later than October first. When I called at the end of September, Alta Montecito sent me to collections. I guess you really can't take anyone's word down stairs in that friendly office of theirs. For the most part, cool place to live like I said if you are by yourself and plan on always being by yourself. No family, no friends, no dog, no cat, no mouse, no nothing, no social encounters period! Alta Montecito is unwelcoming towards its residents' guests making it unwelcoming for the residents that live there. Making you feel like BIG BROTHER is watching you. It got creepy and I was more than pleased to leave. The walls are thick neighbor to neighbor. I personally spoke with one of my neighbors and she said she had never heard a peep come from my balcony, nor my apartment. She had her son, a teenager living with her who had his friends over from time to time and was totally fine. Never heard them at all either. Some people like to complain. Not recommended living here. Not worth it. No Laramar property for me ever again please.
