If you have been to the fabricland in the south right next to the shooting center then you will likely never want to come back to northland fabricland again. The south store is grand and prodigious in comparison to northland store. It has all the same fabrics northland has but with a further supplementary selection that should satisfy even the most particular tastes. The thing that agitated me the most was that there was a cost bifurcation which should not have occurred between two identical stores. I examined the same fabrics at both stores the northland store would often cost more than in the south store.
On top of this the service is night and day between the two locations. At northland one woman was nice enough and tried....sort of.. to help me with the questions I was asking her. She kept showing me all the patterns and fabrics that were very unequivocally her aestheticism and precluding the occurrences of me remarking strong distaste for her suggestions. I was being particularly absolute about what I favor but she kept pontificating that her choices were exceptionally better. Nooo. I'm not going to have a arbitrary metamorphosis in personality and predilection because you don't want to do some work. In the end she just walked off and said "you know what you want just look for it around this area", and walked off having not done any actual work.
The rest of the sales staff ostracized me; In fact twice the same women just acted like I wasn't standing there and helped another customer measure and cut fabric while I subsisted refusing to leave. The second time I said to her "excuse me maybe you didn't notice that I was here first but that the second time you just ignored me, I do have things to do tonight if you don't mind". She just made a face at me and then scoffed. The other sales associate observed the entire exchange and offered to help me after standing there for the first ten mins but I was grateful to finally get service so I let it all go.
When I got to the till the sales associate who disregarded me was behind me in line with one piece of trimming to buy. I had a small armful and she was rolling her eyes. I told her to go ahead since she had one thing to buy. She tells me thanks but then adds that employees shouldn't have to stand in a line like everyone else. I don't regret letting her go first. You have to do decent things even when people are acting inappropriately.
I can't manage the expenditure of a new dress for the New Year's Eve wedding I'm going to. I resolved to make one. I found eight patterns I really adored and then discovered one of the designers was on sale for $6 instead of $30. It wasn't the pattern I wanted most but it was the one I could most afford. I queried three separate sales associates if just the one designer was on sale and they all said yes. When I got to the till with my pattern, organza for the favors (I'm making for the wedding) and some thread; I saw a flyer that said all the designers were on sale. I could have spent the hour I had just perfected planning the fabrics and colors on the pattern I wanted, and I was infuriated but by then. The patterns were on sale and it's their job to know that. I left there and went to the south store and the experience was quite contrary.
The south fabricland sales girls actually assisted me in finding the fabrics I needed and made suggestions based on my likes and not just theirs. One of the sales associates even showed enthusiasm in my wedding favors and the photography I'll be doing for the wedding. They weren't perfect but I felt more like a customer that was cared for and welcome to be there.
Unfortunately I would say you should avoid completely the northland fabricland. The inconvenience of the drive to the south fabricland is well worth it.
