| - I'm not sure what caused me to pass these guys by and call someone else first. Perhaps it was the slick, corporate-looking website. Perhaps it was just a moment of bad luck. But I did. And I wasted my time with another vendor that apparently treats potential customers like a bad date: come out to see them once, decide you don't want to deal with them, and... don't bother to call. The big fade I can kind of understand in relationships, but not business!
Thank god!!
After that debacle, I called up Preferred Home. They were GREAT. Tony came out and measured the door that was being replaced. He answered all my questions (and not with BS answers), and we worked out a deal. Sure, he's a sales guy and he's supposed to be nice, but... what a nice guy.
The owner came out a few days later to confirm Tony's measurements. At this time, I showed him some other doors and asked if he could make sure the new ones matched the old ones; he took pictures and said it wouldn't be a problem at all for them to customize the doors for me. Again, a super nice guy who was absolutely professional. He said it would be a couple weeks to get the doors and that, normally, it'd be a week or two after that to install but they'd do their best to sneak me in ASAP (since I couldn't use the doors in question in the interim).
Sure enough, 2 weeks later, I got a call saying the doors were there and they'd like to come install them. When, I ask. Tomorrow? Really?!
Nice.
The installers were, again, professional and obviously knew what they were doing. They cleaned up wonderfully, making the area even cleaner than when they arrived.
I have a window that, eventually, needs to be replaced with a set of French doors. I will definitely be calling Preferred Home Window and Door to do that job.
