I went with a friend to the Carolina Renaissance Fair during their beer festival. At $19 the tickets are pretty pricey, but I was surprised by how much was going on inside the fair. The village was sizeable, with many different shops, food stands, and venues for watching musicians, glass blowers, and comedians. You could find your requisite turkey legs at every corner along with Renaissance-style coffee shops. The jousting field was a major attraction, and was fun to watch. All in all I was impressed by how well the fair was executed - worth going once but I probably won't go again. There isn't much to do besides wandering around and watching a few shows - along with buying stuff. Get ready to spend extra cash beyond the $19 entry.
