I wish I had read Alex's review before signing up... Alex's review is very polite and not very detailed. Hopefully this provides some context for the customer experience you can expect if you make the mistake of signing up.
The haircut is good and you are supposed to be feeling amazing after leaving something that is supposed to be a sort of gentleman's club of hair salons... if it was not for the particularly unfriendly and customer-experience-sabotaging Kristie whose role is to greet customers (simple job: smile and be nice and accommodating of your customers - not bark and growl at them). For some reasons we common mortals will never know, she makes it her mission to make the patrons feel bad any chance she gets.
I do however feel great whenever I leave this place and she is not working on that day but if she is there... oh boy... she will go out of her way to make sure you are not having a good time and you can sense the enjoyment she gets out trying to ruin your experience.
If I could cancel my membership and get reimbursed a pro rated amount, I'd leave in a heartbeat as none should have to endure such treatment, let alone pay for it. I clearly will NOT be renewing my membership.
For some context I will provide one example (out of countless times when Kristie went out of her way to harm the customer experience I come to enjoy at John Allan): today she went out of her way to make sure I was "punished" for having been late. You see, when you are late at John Allan you won't be getting your usual haircut and full service but instead a quick cleanup and no manicure, which I am fine with as I am respectful of the fact that other customers may have booked services right after mine. However, a nice lady who takes care of manicures came over during my rushed haircut and proposed to still take care of me because she did not have any appointments for the next little while and could spare the 5-10 minutes that were required... that is until Kristie saw that (Lo and Behold) someone was trying to be helpful and accommodating in this salon and that was simply not acceptable. She asked the nail lady to leave the room and to go hide where idle employees go to wait for their next appointment.
The only words that came out of Kristie's mouth towards me today (no greeting or goodbyes by the way) were: "appointments here are only 30 minutes". That's all... the only thing she can tell a paying customer is this. WOW... simply WOW.
