| - I have been patronizing this NTB for about three and a half years. Had been, I should say.
In the beginning, they were my local wheel/tire heroes. I switch out summer tires for winter every November, and vice versa every April. They would always get me in right away, were great about calling me when my car was finished, and they did fine work.
Then about two years ago, they seemed to start to slip a little bit. First, it was a shoddy balance job, then it was a 90-minute estimate and a four-hour job.
Last year was the end of my relationship with them.
I took in my car for the usual job, and it took much longer than it should've. When I finally got into my car after paying, the battery was dead. Remember, I get tire work done here, but the company is National Tire and BATTERY. I went inside and asked if they could give me a boost, which they of course said they would. But what happened next surprised me. An ASE Certified technician said, "yeah, it was deader'n a doornail - Joe left the lights on while we were working on it." I asked him what they did about it, and he said that he jump started it and pulled it into an outside parking place, then hung up the keys on the "finished' peg.
How does an ASE certified mechanic not know that a dead battery's going to have to charge for more than 18 seconds?
The guy that sweeps the floors came out with a mobile charger and hooked it up backward, shorting out everything and resetting my stereo security code. After he got it started, I did a walk-around and found that one of my wheel's center caps was missing. I went back in AGAIN and the guy who informed me about the battery produced it from his shirt pocket like he was doing me a favor by keeping it warm on his bosom.
Never ever again.
