Temper your expectations and remember the most important part: location, location, location! Whether you picked it because it was the cheapest deal or you had points to book a room, it's a bargain. We took a chance on a Fab room instead of paying extra for a Go room.
Our first frustration was trying all day to use the online check in that wasn't working. We arrived at 3 pm and there were about 15 people in line but thankfully it only took 10 minutes! Tried asking for a Fab room but said none were left (Sat nite). Got our keys and headed to our room. It was floor 16 in the Habitat Tower and I felt we had walked forever when we got there! Last section of the last corner! We walked in and found a clean semi renovated room (bathroom clean but not renovated). King bed and a huge space near the window where a sofa should be! Only place to sit was the desk chair. Then we were immediately concerned about the connecting door and the BLARING TV.
Noise is your biggest enemy in the hotel. The walls are paper thin, there are tons of connecting rooms, and now that they removed the carpeting and put in vinyl floors.....noise carries. Even basic conversations next door. Of course you also have the rude loud tourists cruising the halls at 2 am or the neighbor slamming their doors at 5 am!
We proceeded back downstairs to stay our neighbors were incredibly loud and got reassigned. Next room was 21st floor, looked the same but had a settee! Sadly, the Fab rooms do NOT have a coffee maker so we had to trek to the lobby every morning to buy a $3 cup of coffee. However, our room was clean and the bed was very comfy. It was certainly acceptable. Our wifi worked ok if not great.
Everyone complains about the elevators....fortunately we only had one real hassle but that was check out time and every elevator was full of people with luggage. We didn't find them to be that terrible. It was easy to catch the $7 shuttle back to the airport -- you can charge the voucher to your room!
We didn't eat at the Flamingo but there is a small food court and several restaurants. Lots of restaurants also outside by the Linq and a great new food court inside Harrahs.
Casino cocktail service -- they did a good job of coming around regularly. Both at the Mirage and Linq we gave up trying -- half an hour and still no beverage service! The casino looks very dated and definitely needs some updating but there are tons of other casinos to choose from!
Location can't be beat so we would definitely consider returning. Seems Harrahs, Flamingo, and Linq all have mixed reviews so pick the best deal and have fun!
