| - I happened to be drawn to The Dhaba while traveling eastbound on Apache toward the 101. Something about the building, the restaurant and market, I'm not quite sure but I knew I wanted to check it out.
I ended up inquiring with others who have had it and they had only good things to say. So, I went in to order some take out the following day.
The menu all sounded good although admittedly there were so many items that in placing a to-go order I didn't really have the time to review all options available. I went with the Saag, with a level 7 spice. You really never know how spicy a 7 is going to be. I also ordered the curried goat for a colleague, along with their gluten free bread and a masala chai tea.
I will admit I was a bit bummed out when I took the meal back and there were no utensils and the rice was in a single container. Although, I am green conscious and it's probably for the better that there was less waste.
I was surprise that the chai was hot, I'm not sure why I expected it to be cold but I did. Nevertheless it was delicious, although next time I might order something else. The saag? Amazing! Like, no joke! Who would have thought something so pureed and spinach would be so good? I certainly didn't. Not the mention the level of spice was perfect! There were no complaints from my colleague although I didn't mention I'm quite the yelper.
Upon entering The Dhaba there is a wall of pride with award after award. The owner was actually who greeted me and was a very pleasant man, I truly do wish I had the chance to dine in and get a different experience. This just means I'll have to head back.
I will say it was a bit pricy, though in my world, all good food seems to be from the grocery store to the smoothie joint, sometimes when you want the quality, you gotta pay the price, literally.
Definitely a new fave! For sure.
