I love the Save-A-Lot! I jokingly call it the "Ghetto Grocery Store" but it's cleaner and brighter than any Giant Eagle I've ever been to.
Their prices are rock bottom, which helps those of us who need to stretch a dollar. They don't have everything, but what they do have is "normal" brands and excitingly low prices. Example: A pack of Johnsonville Stadium Brats for $2.69. Those are like $4.99 at a regular grocery store.
They also have some "ghetto" brands I've never heard of in canned goods, and frozen foods. Honestly, I'm not rushing to try those, but I will let you know...
Their produce section is small but I've gotten good stuff. The meat is fresh and good, something I cannot say about the meat I've gotten from Giant Eagle, which I have found inedible.
The cheese section is small and sadly lacking. Couldn't even find cottage cheese.
Ice cream selection is also limited. No Ben and Jerry's. Not that I expected it.
A great smallish community grocery store that's 4 minutes from where I live. I can even take back roads to get there and avoid traffic.
I'm still putting as much money as I can into Trader Joes but sometimes a girl just needs some milk and Cheetos. And change back from a $5 bill.
