  • After a disappointing experience at a Hilldale competitor in Madison a few days ago I drove to The Shoe Box in Black Earth last night after work. My experience was far better at the Shoe Box! They made me feel welcome as a customer. They had shoes. They had the right pricing. Within less than a minute I was offered help and Kelly came over to listen to my needs. He carefully listened to my long winded explanations of my foot issues, shared his personal knowledge, and pulled an armful of possible solutions off the rack. Kelly then measured my feet and discussed the options before finding correctly sized shoes from his warehouse. I must have spent at least 90 minutes trrying shoes on and walking around but I was never rushed. My wife drove in to give her opinion since I asked and um, selected a few pairs of shoes for her services! Kelly was gracious, patient, and helpful throughout. After I expressed a concern with the shade of a pair of sandals he promptly darkened the shade for me on the spot and I bought three pairs of shoes for an excellent price! The pricing and service seems to be significantly better at The Shoe Box than it is at stores in Madison and the service is what one really expects! Jeff
