I joined Moksha Brooklin back in September with a friend on their new client discount. Having never done yoga before, it was a good way to check it out and see what was involved. We ended up liking it so much that we both bought year-long memberships.
As a yoga virgin, I was very intimidated walking into the studio for the first time. But the staff here are very friendly and very approachable. You're always met with a smile when you enter and a friendly goodbye and a smile when you leave. It helped to put me at ease before my first few classes when I was nervous about how I would do.
One of the things I've liked about Moksha is that they encourage you to modify your practice. The key word there being YOUR practice. They truly emphasize that it is your own practice and that you're in control of it. There's no expectation that you can do every pose the first time, or that you should be able to do the advanced moves when they do happen in class. They also encourage modifications of poses to suit your flexibility, yoga level and ability.
I also like the variety of instructors that they have. I've been in quite a few classes with different instructors and while there are some I like and some I don't, each instructor brings something different to the class. This could be the mood, the specific series or order of poses, or the energy they bring into the class. And all of the instructors/staff are approachable. After a class, I was having difficulty understanding a flow and so I asked the receptionist and she was more than happy to come out from behind the desk and show me the flow in slow motion so I could understand how my body was supposed to move.
I've been very happy with my time at Moksha and will continue to come here and would recommend it to anyone.
