| - The service was lovely and the restaurant is clean. Big points there. I've been wanting to try them out for ages because I love tofu and they have tofu fries. What more in life do you need, right? Well...I guess I was just a bit disappointed. I ordered the veggie burger and unfortunately, I was not impressed. If you're a homemade veggie burger fanatic like I am, here are the things that I found lacking.
1. WAY too thick. It was an inch thick. That with fixings, plus bun = too large!
2. Super dry. I mean, like bad falafel dry (I would say the texture was similar to falafel as well...kind of unusual for a veggie burger).
3. Bland. I could have gotten past #1, and maybe sauced it up to help #2 a little bit, but the lack of flavor made the burger taste like what non-vegetarians think of when they think of vegetarian food.
It reminded me of vegetarian food from the 80s. We've come a long way since then. Maybe Greens and Proteins didn't get the memo.
The tofu fries were good. Nothing to write home about, but I would probably buy them again when I'm craving tofu. Oddly enough, the veggie burger at Cheesecake Factory blows this one out of the water. I love supporting local, rather than chains...so I am super bummed.
BUT...if they ever rethink that veggie burger recipe, I'd be more than happy to give them another shot. The place was clean and everyone was friendly. I'm still rooting for them.
