I'm very pleased with the progress the little guy is showing since attending here, and have an abundance of nice things to say about Northshore Learning Tree. The class he's in has very understanding and compassionate adults. The focus is on providing an environment in which the kids can learn to socialize and ease them into learning. And there is a no tolerance policy for violent children. This is in marked contrast to our experience with the Elementary school, Kahre Elementary, right across the street.
The school also starts later in the morning. The Clark County School District, in its never-ending rear guard actions, not only over-emphasize testing, but start way too early in the morning. But don't take my word for it, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the US Air Force Academy, and many other studies have shown starting too early as being counter-productive to a child's learning. The unfortunate truth is our public school system in this County seems to be in a race to the bottom in its policies.
I have no hesitation on recommending this place to anyone who has a toddler who wants to ease into school. This place is especially good at transitioning children who may be having some difficulty with separation anxiety, or who have had a bad experience with the regular school system.
