First let me say that the older woman doing my nails treated me amazingly fair...however, that's not enough to erase the strong feeling of neglect that I felt today. I have been excitedly looking forward to treating myself to a mani-pedi as I am a hard working business owner who has an office in East Liberty.
I am also BLACK, not just black..but educated and hold a very diverse friend base in this city. I walked in and immediately felt very unwelcomed by Yen, the lady sitting at the front.- only for an older white lady to walk in and Yen become very friendly toward her in my face, her asking her what she needed "ma'am"...I was like, confused.
I sat down to get my feet soaked for my pedi, while sitting the guy owner ( Per earlier reviews I am assuming this was Tom) comes out from the rear of the store and asks the older lady if she would like something to drink...and guess what? He continued walking toward the front without so much as giving me a second look- am I unworthy of friendliness?
Then, they gave me snarky looks the entire time...esp as I was talking to the sweet lady doing my mani about my new business endeavor. Tom then goes to the back of the store and pulls out a huge bag of mini- candy bars. Again, he walks down the entire aisle asking every single person in the place if they wanted one from the bag except....yep you guessed it-ME!! I paid them $70 of my hard-earned money only to be treated as if they did not even want me to return or appreciate my patronizing of their business. I don't care if I have to pay twice as much they were very RUDE to me and it will be happy spending my money elsewhere. I also work in East Liberty and will be sure to tell every single person that I come in contact with about the unfair treatment that I received from this establishment.
My poor husband picked me up and boy did he hear it about them, that's who encouraged me to share my story here.
