| - I have been going to this establishment for some years (I think my first wash was around 2010) and their service and attention to detail have been gradually slipping.
When I first started visiting, little details like using compressed air to blow out water from underneath hood scoops were always performed. Back then I recommended 7 Hills to my dad and he still visits to this day. Over time, I noticed that the compressed air was inconsistently used and they started to miss spots on the car.
I had them clay bar my car about a year ago, and for some reason they thought it was a good idea to clay my third break light: this left it with scratches that got worse over time (perhaps some kind of protective layer was removed or it was attacked by some kind of chemical they used?)... at any rate, I stopped going to them thinking that a drive thru car wash could do a better job.
I actually had one completed stamp card in my wallet at the time and kept it for a year... today I made the mistake of using that card for an Ultimate Wash.
I now have a new car and I have been taking it to a do it yourself wash for the last 3 months: I got lazy and thought about driving it thru a machine wash... but then I remembered that I had the complete punch card in my wallet and thought I would revisit 7 Hills to see how they were doing.
I originally asked the attendant if I could upgrade my punch card to wax package and he said no problem: just let the cashier know when I give her the service slip: when I went to pay, the cashier said that she could not upgrade and sent me back to the service attendant to get a new slip: she did not offer to make an exception or even run the service ticket back to the wash manager
It was a BIG MISTAKE revisiting 7 Hills: bedsides a total lack of detail, they actually damaged the finish on my car!
I watched in horror as the cars going thru the initial wash were treated: the attendant cleaning the wheels and rims used a brush half the time and a "lambs wool" mitt the other half of the time; when he used the lambs wool mitt on the rims, he would halfheartedly run the mitt on the rims and tires... THEN HE WOULD drag the soiled mitt (filled with abrasive brake dust from the rims and grit from the tires) across the front fenders and some times along the lower half of the doors: THAT is NUTS! ..and he did it to my car.
I also took note that the amount foaming soap being used is significantly not as much or as thick as it was when I first started visiting: a good amount of foam should be applied to lift grit and grime off the paint during the wash.
The wash mitts (thank GOD they used different mitts to clean rims and wash) should ALWAYS be dipped in fresh water and rinsed at least 2 or three times during the wash process to remove grit and grime: not only did they not rinse their mitts during the wash, they did not rinse them AT ALL between cars! In the past they would dip and rinse their mitts: not anymore apparently.
I was dreading that they may have missed some spots during the wash and were now going to dry my car with towels that have picked up the grit from the missed spots (to be honest, I suspected this in the past)... not only did they miss spots during the wash, they missed spots during the dry and, even tho I missed this before I drove off, I could see they missed the ENTIRE middle of my hood as I drove home: they did not wash OR dry the hood properly and probably had significant amounts of grit in their dry towels.
When I got home, I decided to look more carefully at the job: besides the hood not being cleaned, the roof was not cleaned properly and there were SCRATCHES from grit on my tail lights: my car is new and I have been washing it myself for three months: I know that the scratches happened at 7 Hills because I only use a blower to dry my tail lights at the do it yourself wash. Because the scratches are from gritty towels, they can be taken care of with some plastic polish and can be corrected.
It was dusk when I got home and by the time I detailed the car with some quick wash, I could not see if there were other disasters on the car... but I will amend this review, if I find any thing of significance...
