Not especially impressed. Went here on a friday night to experience the scene.
The place is a bit loud, which is fine, and the room is open with attached lounge and a serving bar in the middle of the restaurant.
Our server was a bit weird. I guess the management is trying to hire servers with some "edge" but it might be a bit much for some people. I guess I'm partial towards hot female servers. Anyway, I can't fault the server because he was friendly enough.
The food was not great and overpriced. I ordered all their "featured" items on the menu. The appetizer was popcorn shrimp in a basket served with some dipping sauce. Just okay. Entree was their specialty steak. It was good, but not worth the price (~60US). I don't mind spending that much (had already spent combined $800 on previous two dinners), but considering I can get better steak from a high end steak restaurant in Winnipeg, it did not impress.
My company had french onion soup to start and ribeye for two. The french onion soup base contained alot of tomato for some reason. I've never seen french onion soup prepared like that. Questionable. My foodie companions were less than impressed. Their ribeye was also just okay.
We skipped dessert.
Best restaurant in the Palms is Alize, hands down. I guess people are paying for the scene but we didn't really see it...
