| - I have been a member of the coop for 18 years. I shop in the store at least four times a week and I've spent a tremendous amount of money there over the years. I love most everything about the coop in terms of food quality and selection.
What I don't appreciate is that many of the cashiers are quite unfriendly. I wouldn't say the same for the staff on the floor, who are usually nice and very helpful. But the cashiers, with just a few exceptions, don't even smile. I'd like to feel a bit more appreciated, especially since I'm a regular, and a long-time regular at that. I'm not expecting them to have memorized my ownership number, but how about a friendly greeting for a familiar face? Is it because I look like a capitalist in my business attire?
The juice bar staff also are not especially customer service oriented. The other day I stopped there to get an iced coffee and counted six (!) employees working in the area and not one of them even acknowledged me, although they did glance up and see me there. Finally, one of the women, with a heavy sigh, stopped filling bottles and came over to wait on me. But she wasn't happy when I asked where the cream was and she had to walk over to point it out.
The other thing that is really starting to annoy me is the fact that the hot bar is often out of meat dishes. Low on protein to begin with, when the chicken is out they need to time things so there isn't a 15 minute wait for the next pan to come out. Also, when noon arrives, bring out the noon food! It's my lunch hour and I'm in a hurry. I don't want a vegan sausage and egg biscuit that's been sitting in the hot case for hours. If I wanted breakfast, I would come at breakfast time.
It's enough to make me go to Festival Foods and their unnaturally white mashed potatoes for lunch.
