| - Do not stay at this hotel until construction is done AND they work out their problems. You have been warned. Let me list a few of the problems I encountered during my visit to Vegas May 1-4. I don't know how there any positive reviews of this hotel. Frankly, I have doubts about all of the MGM properties. Last 3 stays at MGM hotels have sucked. Bellagio, Aria, and now Park MGM. Anyway...
- Booked 2 rooms. One of which was comped. Only received 1 confirmation email with one of the confirmation numbers. The other booking suddenly did not exist on their system. Luckily I printed hard copies of both my confirmation numbers prior.
- Arrived to see that check-in is handled via self check-in kiosks. The kiosks do not work. The kiosk could not scan my driver's license nor could it find my confirmation numbers. Luckily, an employee was able to check me in via another computer that employees can use. And luckily I had hard copies of my bookings. Otherwise, she would not have been able to find my second room. BTW the lobby tree root thing coming out the ceiling is creepy imo. Very weird design elements throughout the hotel actually. Perhaps when they are done, they can better integrate these designs but right now, it's poorly conceived and just ugly.
- Hotel is under serious construction pretty much all day. Also, I often saw contractors/employees doing work at night in common areas as well such as painting and moving of fixtures. Actually the immediate area is under construction also so driving in/out of the property is a headache also. Drilling/ hammering/ pounding begin at 830am every morning. If you want to sleep in, forget it. The hotel does not provide any bottles of water or anything in the room, except for earplugs. They leave those in the room for you with a nice note saying that they are complimentary and to have a pleasant stay. Uh okay.
- Rooms are weird. First, there is very little counter space anywhere in the room. Then the bathroom vanity has very little space for toiletries. There is also no fridge. My rooms were on different floors. One was a standard King and the other was on their "Stay Well" floor. They were about the same except the "stay well" room has an air purifier in the room. Both rooms were of the adjoining room type design. I could hear everything going on in the room next to me...everything. I'm sure they could hear me also. It was awkward seeing them in the hallway one morning. It was like I knew them already. I could have said "Hi Gary, Angie, have a nice day." Yes, that were their names. Also, don't forget to close both the privacy blinds and the darkening blinds. There is scaffolding right outside the window with construction workers peering in. Also, again the room design is ugly btw. Not a fan of red walls and red showers.
- Smells like fresh paint everywhere. Stinks bad. Nothing else I can add to this.
- Did I mention parking is $18 a day? What about the resort fee of $37 and resort fee tax of $5 a day? I don't believe there were any amenities included with the resort fee. Maybe the earplugs. I understand most of the hotels in LV are doing this crap, but when I stay at the Wynn or Cosmo, I feel like my resort fee is giving me something. Access to great pools, exercise facilities, club line privs, etc. I felt that I got ripped off here. There were no amenities. No privs. Nothing. Just nickel and dime me just for the sake of nickel and diming me.
- Wow the casino is so small and pitiful. It's perhaps 1/8 the size of the NYNY casino next door. Next I need to be sedated, I will return to the Park MGM casino.
- When I returned home, I noticed that there was a charge on my credit card statement that I did not make. When I called the front desk, they could not find a record of the charge so they could not reverse it. The employee I spoke with told me to wait a few days and the charge might "drop off" by itself. I asked her how a charge on my statement that has already posted would "drop off" on it's own. She said sometimes it does that. LOL. Of course, it did not. I had to call my CC to have the charge disputed. What a hassle.
- I got call from a customer relations specialist from the Park MGM about an hour ago who indicated that they would reverse the incorrect charge. Evidently, they charged me a no-show fee because I did not show up for my booking. huh? She was able to explain a no-show penalty to me while also explaining my room charges and resort fees for my 2 rooms that I showed up for. I wonder if she was able to keep a straight face explaining that.
I never thought I would ever reject a comp in Vegas, but next time, I will just pay to stay somewhere else.
