I have been a patron of the Pinball Hall of Fame over the course of the last 7 or so years. Honestly I used to recommend this place to visitors from out of town and nostalgia seeking locals all the time.
My last trip to this facility was marked with a very terrible prejudice to me and my autistic son. The environment is that of an arcade where children are to be supervised by parents at all times (which isn't always the case, but in mine it is). My son was excited to play the games and interact with all of the very unique items here. He was then asked to leave when his laughter was too loud by the management. I was approached by several other patrons who stated they were not bothered at all by a kid who was excited to play Ninja Turtles or Ghostbusters (these were unsolicited opinions). After informing the management that my son was autistic and his exclamations of delight were uncontrollable, they proceeded to chase us out.
It is a terrible thing to explain to an autistic kid that his expressions of joy were unacceptable in an arcade. But I can't say that I would recommend this place to any future patrons, particularly those with special needs kids. I think what really upset me is that this place operates as an arcade where there is no smoking or super loud music so you can hear all the jingles and jangles of the machines
...just not the laughter and squeals of delight from little boys delighted to play games.
