| - I attempted my 2nd visit to Fab Bar for it's Wednesday night chicken wings. My first visit was the first Wednesday in January 2012. That visit went well but based on the experience I had tonight (by myself), I now wonder if it was because my attractive friend whom had taken me.
Today, my friend was not with me (as he moved to Vancouver but apparently, when he moved to Vancouver, he sent that horrible service that Vancouver is associated with to Calgary).
Today, after a long but nice day, I decided to treat myself to Fab's chicken wings. I drove to with 100m and parked my car. So far so good. I went into the bar which was crowded (again, so far so good). I saw one table for two that was empty but dirty. As I was walking in, someone apparently had went to get more beer and dropped a six-pack in the parking lot. I've done things like that so I can totally understand how she was feeling.
Anyway, I waited 14 minutes to be addressed or acknowledged as a customer but apparently, I waited in vain. I realize it was busy but I chose to come here instead of going for the all you can eat tacos at Salt & Pepper Restaurant on MacLeod Trail which is just past where I live. I am new here so finding gay friendly businesses is new to me and not as easy as in Vancouver, San Francisco, Portland, Austin, or Seattle. I will not be making this mistake again. If I had been afforded at least a hello, we'll be right with you or some other pleasantry, I'd be there right now eating instead of at home typing this review. This means I would have gotten home later with a full stomach instead of being home on an empty stomach after wasting an additional 34 minutes for this fiasco (not including the 14 minutes I waited to be acknowledged). Never mind the cost of gas that was then wasted.
I am guessing you could seat yourself but there were no seats available or signs instructing a newcomer on their protocols that were near the front entrance and being only my 2nd time, I am not aware of the protocol which is apparently, to bring an attractive friend.
I will have to wait to go back when my friend visits in 2012 July. Their chicken wings are good and I have heard good things from others about other menu items but I guess I won't know anytime soon.
In summary, Wednesdays can be very busy so bring an attractive friend or you will not get noticed apparently. A smile gets you nowhere.
