  • I was new to the area and found Perry's to do appraisals on my jewelry for insurance needs. I thought the price was kind of high ($75 for the first piece, $50 for each additional), but seeing past reviews I thought I would get really good service and value for my money. I got in to drop off my items one evening as I was told I didn't need an appointment, but apparently I was given wrong information. Thankfully they were able to help me anyway (that's a plus). When I was there, however, my time was rudely interrupted when another employee came to get the lady who was working with me due to an unhappy customer. The lady helping me seems to approach the situation professionally and apologized for the interruption, but the gentleman who got her was not very professional about it at all. I was told about a week to get my items back, which was acceptable in my view. A week later I went to pick them up and didn't have a good experience at that time either. They brought me my appraisals, but didn't even bring my jewelry until I asked, and just tried to check me out for payment. They had them all bagged up, but I asked for the list of what I dropped off to make sure I had all my pieces, an inventory of sorts. Thankfully I did do that because they had a ring in my items which did not belong to me!!! I did not pay until going through each piece. Knowing exactly what I own, I kept saying that was not my ring, yet they seemed to thing they couldn't be wrong with putting the ring in my bag. They didn't know what to do, did not even see how bad the mistake could've been if I was not honest about the ring. The lady checking me out was not apologetic, did not show any care to the ring, and the gentleman who helped (same guy from my initial drop off) did not seem to really care either how big of a mistake they just about made! Customer service really has a lot to be said for with my two interactions at this store. One would thing for such a store (dealing with estate jewelry and the like, locked doors for access, etc.) would have a little more to say about nearly giving away someone else's belongings! I was flabbergasted at the situation, especially since they were questioning ME saying it wasn't my ring. Sorry people, I don't think you're too good for making a mistake of that magnitude. How can you not be super concerned and blown away by such error? While walking the store to look around, the gentleman really seemed to give the appraiser a hard time about the situation, even leaving it all to be heard in the store (at least we could hear it), which is so unprofessional. Very disappointed and very unsatisfied from just 2 quick visits. I will not go back again due to customer service and pricing alone. I highly advise anyone who drops items off to go through each piece when received to insure they are YOUR items.
