here to inject some reality about staying at the quad. while it's no 5 star resort (or 4 for that matter), you do get what you pay for.
this used to be the old imperial palace, which is now bought out by the ceasers group. it's in the process of undergoing a facelift. the hotel's facade is completely covered by construction as phase 1 of the project. don't know what changes will actually be done to the rooms themselves.
inside, nothing seems to have changed except signs now say "the quad" instead of "imperial palace". the slots, the front desk, the carpets, to the "singing" elvis ... everything has a used feel to it. we got the 18th floor strip view room for $33/nt.
here's the breakdown:
-no resort fee
-clean bed and sheets (i was actually REALLY relieved to see this cuz i read reviews of bed bugs and thankfully did NOT see any)
-relatively clean room
-surprisingly quiet
-friendly staff
-free parking
-allows pets and has a dog relief area out back
-central location
-hash house a go go is here!!
the meh
-loud heater
-very very very sparse room with chipped furniture
-low water pressure
-long wait time to check in (15 min)
-internet is +~$10 extra
-NO GYM!! actually there is but it's not in use
-staff is still in training phase ... don't know where everything is
-carpets are old
-elevators are old and grimey
-only 2 elevators serving 20+ floors... which ensures that you'll probably stop at nearly every level...
... the most annoying thing about this place is how convoluted it is...getting to the parking lot required going through several different elevators on different floors that don't connect. going to the non working gym required going all the way to the lobby, taking another elevator up and crossing several meeting rooms ... just confusing. they will definitely have to address this since the layout is awkward.
overall, this is an acceptable place to stay. i had really really low expectations going in, but i'm glad i didn't leave with horror stories. :P
