  • Update: after reviewing my lease, there is NO mention of paying an HOA fee. I brought that to the attention of the property manager who forwarded my concern to the regional manager of the property management company. We have corresponded via email and she has said she will send me a check for the amount we have paid as well as take our names off the HOA fee list. So basically, read your lease carefully, because the leasing agents in the office don't know what's in the leases they have people sign and still even the regional manager cannot further explain why when renting an apartment, we pay HOME OWNERS association fee. Still ridiculous but at least they were able to right it, still not renewing our lease. Update: we've been here 3 months and as part of our utilities we get charged a 10$ HOA fee each month. Weird how Keily never mentioned it when we signed our lease that due to being a part of the Val Vista lakes community we will be charged an HOA fee. When asked what are the benefits of paying into something, even the blonde manager said "I don't know." Excuse me, I could pay a discounted rate to get into the Val Vista lakes club. When asked why we are paying this, the one answer that they could provide was, "everyone pays it, we can't take it off." Complete and total dishonesty from the females who work in the office. Wish we would have never set foot in this place. RENTERS are literally giving their money away for an HOA fee that they have NO benefits too at all. Such deceitful girls in the office. Cannot wait to move out next September. Don't waste your time, move on. Let me start by saying, we moved in because we like the apartment and the location is centrally located from our work and our future babysitters house. Now, let me also say if you want anything done than you should probably not expect it when the office says they are going to do it. We took a tour and liked the community, neighbors are friendly, it's clean. We made it very clear to the girl who showed us around that we need somewhere with thick ceilings as we are expecting and we came from a place that our neighbors were loud and we heard them all the time! She "assured" us that she too lives on the property and there's a large dog who loves in the unit above her and she never hears it. We did a walk through of the unit we moved into and she again told us, "there's two boys who love above you and I know they're home and it's quiet." So we signed. A day after moving, we were welcomed to our neighbors running a marathon and could hear EVERY STEP. including the music they were playing. My husband walked upstairs and the neighbor upstairs was very polite and said he would keep his kids under control, but also said, the walls are super thin and he hears his third floor neighbors all the time too. So thanks for COMPLETELY misleading us she who shall not be named. Plus, we keep getting the run around on what parking spot we get, we've got double assigned to someone else's spot twice and when the MANAGER said she'd call us back about a definite spot, well it's been 5 days. So if you are just looking for somewhere to crash in between working two jobs and don't need something fixed or a question answered than move on in! Otherwise, don't waste your time with this place. Can't wait til our lease is up.
