The food and cocktails were phenomenal. The place was harder to find - in an old strip mall. But the place makes up for the location in all other ways. Our waiter was awesome and gave us great food/drink recommendations.
We tried the Tawny Manhattan, one of their barrel aged cocktails and the Good Goddess cocktail. The Good Goddess drink was strange and something I would never have ordered normally, but it was delicious!! A unique combination - worth the risk to try something new.
For food we ordered kettle chips, fried artichoke bruschetta, farm to table salad (with beets, potatoes, goat cheese and an excellent creamy dressing - huge!), mac and cheese, and the duck and dumplings. All were delicious! I would order them all again (although maybe not all at the same time - we were nearly stuffed by the time our entrees came out).
Overall a great meal and we will be adding Barrelhouse to our rotation.
Yelp claims it is good for kids, but the place seemed a bit too nice for taking kids (maybe lunch is okay?) We might have to try a lunch visit with the tiny monsters just because the food was so good!
