  • An Oakland institution. Don't come here looking for a 'faux dive bar' atmosphere, this is a real deal dive. Gene is a wonderful bartender with a heavy hand and cheap deals. The bar is incredibly chill. You can literally just sit at the bar with a bunch of one dollar bills laying in front of you and Gene will just refill your beer/drink and take the ones you owe him. A gin and tonic comes in a pint sized glass. Again, to anyone who is looking for a dive bar that is ACTUALLY A FREAKING DIVE BAR, this is your place. If you want the bleached out version of a dive bar, go to Mario's.
