| - Wow, came here completely on a false charge for a domestic violence dispute. How the cops decide to arrest the wife instead of the husband because he hit his head on the stove and has a "visible' injury blows my mind. Hmmm.. let me call the cops so they can come arrest ME. Yea that makes sense right?
Anyways, they bring you to their intake area, have a nasty nurse check you who completely makes you feel like an idiot. If you take medication, don't plan on every getting it. You might die before you get it. They shackle your waist, put you in handcuffs, take your shoes and give you nasty sandals and then.. move you to another area. Yay! Now you get to sit on a steel cold bench with your feet on the ground, facing forward, freezing your butt off. They literally keep the place at 55 degrees. I mean the prostitutes where blue from being so cold cause they barley wear any clothing of course. I guess I was lucky to have jeans on and a T shirt, but it was still freezing.
So, for hours on end, you get to sit and sit and sit. They serve you "breakfast" at 3am. Which consisted of mush that tasted like dog food and baby food rolled into one with a nice piece of dry wheat bread.
Then, they move you again. YAY. This time to a concrete room with two benches and about 30 to 40 females. It is so dirty and the females literally have to lay on each other and cuddle because it is so freezing. There is a phone in there if you are lucky to know any phone numbers to call on it. They let you write down 3 phone numbers, so make sure to plan that out if you ever plan on visiting here.
Then you get dinner or was it lunch at 11am and then 3pm. I don't know. It was all so disgusting. I asked for a nurse on several occasions because I wear one-a-day contacts and had been crying for about 2 days and my eyes were pussing and blurry. All I wanted was my damn glasses, did they care. NOPE. The officers will treat you like a piece of crap even if you are a model inmate and have reasonable requests. They don't care if you are blind or care about anything other than liabilities to themselves.
Well then, they will eventually move you back to the intake area. I have no idea why. I guess just to torture you. I never got upstairs which is where you would get a bed, and I was not wasted so I could not sleep on the concrete floor or sitting up on a bench at all like many of the women there.
They never told me I could get out on bail. I had no idea what jail was like other than watching Orange is the New Black. So I completely overstayed my welcome without even knowing it. I finally figured it out and got myself released. When you walk out be prepared to be in the middle of downtown Vegas feeling smelly and starving. Wow.
I do have to say that the girls where all very nice. Most of them were on heroin, got caught prostituting or were there on traffic charges. There was one young girl that was there cause she had killed her mother with her boyfriend.. WTF. Most all of them were pro's and knew the system very well. I learned a lot about what it takes to be a prostitute, what terms they use and what a "track" is. I guess this is a good system for actual criminals. Cause you know if you do actually commit a real crime, I guess you should be tortured.
I never plan to visit this place again and you shouldn't either. If anything, it gave me some insight as to how the system works. Most people that work there did not seem happy at all and I have no idea why anyone would even want to subject themselves to that. The pay must be great.
