  • So giving the place 4 stars - Borderline saying I'm a fan, but I didn't think it was average either. Very modern decor, although the carpet in the hallways to the rooms looked a bit dated. Overall Hotel - ritzy looking everywhere...lots of black and white - Millennial Hot Spot- this is where the cool crowd stays, so expect to see awards handed out for every slutty tattoo on otherwise nicely dressed young ladies and guys. Great check in experience with really helpful staff. Rooms - We had the two bed fountain facing WEST side tower. Decent size room, comfy bed, TV didn't have a sleep button - always annoying if you want to leave it on to fall asleep to drown out the noise from the thin walls in the rooms next door. Nice staff that cleans the room. Bathroom - voyeuristic shower that allows you to watch who's in the shower and other areas...you can close it, but not necessarily my thing. It was dark in there as well, but maybe we all look better in that dark lighting. The trampy wallpaper in the toilet reminded me of those Playboy mudflaps you see on 18 wheelers... Pool - we did a cabana at the Bamboo Pool as it was 105 degrees that day. Nice to have the shade option as it was blazing hot. We had Cabana #1 - not the best location and in the sun a good part of the day. Terrific food out there and the drinks were outstanding. You need 6 people to make this cabana food minimum work, but the two of us did a nice dent. Pool was a little cold for 105 degrees, but it felt good to cool off a bit. Water was overloaded with Hawaiian Tropic lotion. Restaurants - We ate twice at Eggslut, it was that good. Get there early and not too bad of a line. Loved the Fairfax sandwich. Also ate at Holsteins for a milkshake and late night snack. Shake was good, had the Coffee and Donuts...coffee was there, but donuts...not so much. The buffet looked great as we strolled through to see what they had, but didn't get to eat there this trip...maybe next time. Stopped by the Pizza place - that looked a little out of place to the rest of the joint...kind of an afterthought...but lots of the hip kids were there getting there pizza on. Long line for cab on the great exodus on Sunday. Also lots of people all check out at the same time. Expect to wait. We didn't find out until we got to the front of the line that as Marriott Gold Card members, we could have checkout out in the lounge. Next trip. If I have events on this part of town - like the TMobile Center - this is where I'd stay again. Easy to get to and central location. Not quite the same experience as the Encore, but it was fun.
