  • Wow! Jessica C who wrote a review October 2014 and what happened to her is almost identical to my experience on September 25, 2015! When I got home from KR service I Googled KR Reviews, and found YELP reviews. Read Jessica's. And a year later, not much change at Kenny Ross South service department! My husband went in person to make the appointment b/c he was near there on Sept. 23. My appointment was 9/25/15 at 10:30. I arrived 10 minutes early. No cars in the pull in service drop off area...I pulled right in and was directed inside. Said hello to the 3 men in there and said my name and that I had a 10:30 appointment for an oil change. They looked in computer, said another name, so said my name again and that my advisor is Geoff. Geoff spoke up, was in the middle, and said yes. He then asked for my registration and insurance card. I was surprised. Thought to myself why? I said with surprise in my voice...or as if did I hear him right? I replied "You need my registration and insurance card for an oil change? He immediately got an attitude--his eyes widened and said yes! He needed the vin and address and this was on the registration. Then stated the vin is on the car but he needs the vin and address together. I said we just bought the car and the state has not sent the registration. I still have the temporary piece of paper on the back window. And I do not believe I have anything he is asking for. He said rudely he was just trying to help me. ?? I stated we just moved here from out of state, bought the car, the dashboard panel information says oil change due soon. He said he could not help me. I left. But was in complete disbelief/dumbfounded thinking...Is this some PA state law? Prove you have insurance and registration for an oil change? I was thinking--Was he annoyed w/me because everyone knows this law and once again, some dumb customer shows up without proper information? I was clueless as to why he got upset with me/rude/attitude. The other 2 guys said nothing. So I am thinking, I do not have this paper yet, and cannot get a simple oil change? Seems strange. In all the years I have owned vehicles in Virginia, never once was I ever asked for registration or insurance card at a dealer. It was simple...pull in, get out, service attendant writes down vin and milage while I go to service desk....tell them I am here....service lane attendant gives service advisor vin/miles--pulls info up in computer--Confirms why I am there and I got to waiting room. Geoff never left his desk, never got my vin--never put in computer where he could see car just purchased/info on vehicle. ??? Not helpful at all. Not polite at all. I left still wondering. So called another Ford dealer and asked the service department this question: I just moved here a few months ago and I just bought a car a few weeks ago, and the dashboard says I need an oil change, what papers do I need to bring you in order to get an oil change? Heidi in service said nothing needed. I said--b/c I do not have my registration yet, so it will be ok to get an oil change? She said yes, not a problem. She could get the vin off my car and my address from me or my DL. But she also stated they were busy and her first available day would be Oct. 6. I said that is no problem--but wanted to really be sure so said--if I schedule for Oct. 6, and still have not received my registration, it will not be a problem right? She said no, no problem. Obviously, it is not a PA state law! Why does Kenny Ross service ask for these papers? And refuse to service the car? Luckily, though, unlike Jessica, there was no yelling/told to leave. I was shocked/too dazed to be upset. A new customer comes in, has an appointment for a simple oil change (also told on Weds when setting up appointment it would be an hour) but never told--YOU MUST bring insurance card and registration for service. If we knew, we would not have set up appointment. I cannot make the state send me a registration any faster than they want to. But--I did call Ford Headquarters and reported my experience at Kenny Ross Service --and I must say, lane attendant who was in drop off service bay was nice, area was nice/attractive/clean--it turned bad w/in seconds dealing with Geoff. Maybe this is how they do it...as others have dealt with Chris--Seems Geoff and Chris treat people and CUSTOMERS the same. And--all my life, my family has chosen to go to dealerships for service. Prefer certified mechanics--in this case,we are new Ford owners and want a mechanic who knows Ford cars and parts vs. corner garage guys who work on any cars. Prefer non-after market parts. Our last car is 10 y.o. w/106K miles and always serviced at dealer. So Kenny Ross lost lots of money from us! I will be happy to drive to one of the other Ford dealerships--Bridgeville or Clairton! I would not want to pay KR to be treated rudely or disrespectful by Geoff.
