Broadway shows have come a long way in terms of humour and progressive story lines. Most recently I saw the Book of Mormon at the Princess of Wales Theatre. The show was excellent and the theatre did a great job creating a themed atmosphere for the show.
Princess of Wales is a Toronto Landmark theatre The theatre is function and small, but somewhat dated. Seats, bathrooms, lobby and stage technology could be updated. The theatre was clean but could be cleaner, leg room is minimal, so tall people may not be comfortable for long periods of time.
Food and beverages are reasonably priced for a downtown venue, but not cheap.
Parking underground is expensive. Street parking is cheaper if you can find a spot. Otherwise try a different lot within 5 minute walk to get a better price.
Lots of steps required to go up and down levels. More steps to climb to access the food/refreshments area or the restrooms during intermission.
Seats are relatively affordable if you sit above the orchestra level. Overall you will get a authentic Toronto historical theatre experience at the Prince of Wales. You are there to enjoy the quality shows and talented acting and not for a state of art facility of futuristic theatre.
Don't expect much from this theatre.
Enjoy.
