After trying several Cuban restaurants in the Charlotte area, I had to settled with Carlos Cafe. About a 20 minute drive from home, it was usually a side trip on my way to SC to fill up the tank with cheap gas. The food was usually a "hit and miss" kind of thing. But after my last trip down there last week, I had it. The vaca frita was barely fried, tasted boiled. Never mind the ropa vieja, always salty. And don't get me started on the congris.....more like water down rice with beans. Overall, if you have never had Cuban food before, you will like it. But I know Cuban food, and that's not what these folks are serving.
