Some background: I am a pilot and my wife is an attorney. We were helping my sister shop for a 2015 Toyota Corolla or Camry. When we were at the dealership, the salesperson lied to us on multiple occasions about the fees this dealership charges. They described the "acquisition" fee and "government" fee as state mandated items - this is not so. They are fees designed to increase the bottom line. We ended up buying the car at AutoNation Toyota in Tempe which did not charge us any of these fees. The salesperson and finance department at Riverview Toyota were very slimy and did nothing I asked them to do. They treated us like amateurs they could confuse by switching money around when all we wanted was a good deal. Instead of getting us a good deal by lowering the total amount we were paying over the loan, they kept trying to ask us for a specific monthly payment or certain down payment and would shuffle the money around to make the deal look better. In reality, the total payment remained the same or sometimes, was even higher. Also, Riverview Toyota insisted on including an "Arizona package" which includes window tint and paint protectant for $699. This was not a required package at AutoNation. This is also much higher than what it would cost to have it done by a third party. Finally, Riverview would not honor the "True Car" savings certificate and insisted on more money shuffling throughout the deal. Overall, I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. These games cost them a sale and we bought at AutoNation that same day.
