  • I've been to my fair share of specialty movie theaters and this one was probably one of my least favorites but this is one of those iffy ones because after going, I know that they didn't build the theater for an audience like me so others are probably going to have a different experience. On one hand, I know this is an amazing addition for neighbors living in the South Ocotillo area. They play classic movies and even have themed screening parties which some of my friends have attended where they hand out fun swag, contests, and encourage hooting and hollering (50 Shades of Grey Party) before the movie. Most importantly, they can accommodate those with sensory issues on certain days before 2 PM and let the family enjoy a movie without being judged with brighter lights and slightly less jarring movie sounds. It's really amazing that they do this. On the other hand, though they say they are strict with lateness and noise issues in the theater, they really aren't which is what I was so excited about. Fellow moviegoers still think that it's smart to bring their high-energy toddlers to a movie I'm not sure they even understand. I hate it when they treat the movies like Disneyland. You get so engrossed in an intense scene, you're on the edge of your seat and in your head you're like "NO, Sexy Hugh Jackman. Don't sacrifice yourself for the greater good!" and then some kid interrupts and screams, "POTTY NOW." What a mood killer. The layout of the theaters could have been better. I like it when there are multiple aisles so that servers aren't constantly obstructing your viewing by going back and forth in front of you because there's only one register on one side of the already small theater. That was a surprise because the size reminded me of those theaters meant for movies that have been out for 3 weeks already. As much as the servers tried to bend while walking, it was extremely annoying and bothersome not that it was their fault. Tables are huge, tall and permanent in front of you and remind me of the desks I used to sit at in high school, I hope I'm not the only one that find them as odd. Also, no recliners for my little legs that can never touch the floor but that's a personal issue I need to take up with my maker. Last tip, if you're not tech savvy and are expecting to come in like it's a regular movie theater, you'll probably be confused because it's just a lobby and you buy the tickets at the bar. For the experience I want, I think I'll stick to Roadhouse Cinemas.
