  • Nothing I love better than when friends come to visit and we have an impromptu spa date! Hand and Stone had last minute appointments available and the price was pretty reasonable so why not?! My hopes weren't super high considering the price and the fact the this is a franchise. I figured the experience could be hit or miss. The waiting area/ lobby is welcoming, not super spa and zen like but welcoming. It actually reminds me of the waiting area at my dentist. Any how, they give you a short form to fill out with basic questions including add on options. The 15 minute foot massage sounded pretty sweet and it was about 10 or 15 bucks more so I added that on to my 60 minute deep tissue massage. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the therapist but she was nice enough, took pretty good social cues in terms of how much to talk or not talk to make the experience enjoyable. I told her my hamstrings were pretty tight and I would like to focus on that area however she focused on my back for most of the massage which was disappointing. The massage was decent enough, not life changing, but good. My biggest issue was with the timing. My massage started about 10 minutes late(I waited in the lobby, no biggie). I paid for a 15min additional service for my feet but somehow the massage finished exactly 60 minutes after my scheduled time which means I was shorted 25 minutes! (10 for the late start and 15 for the foot massage that I paid extra for). Had I known the time would have been deducted I would not have done the add on. After the massage the hard sell for membership was a bit annoying. I mean at least let me enjoy the massage for a few hours... You have my info... Send an email!! I did get a follow up call asking how my service was and I explained my issues. I was told a manage would call me back but instead I received a follow up email offering a second massage for the promotional price as well as a free add on service. This is nice I guess but doesn't really address my issues with the service if I will have to pay for 60 minutes of an actual 50 minute massage. Thanks but no thanks.
