| - It doesn't get much better than Athena. Great food, phenomenal service and reasonable prices.
My partner and I decided to head over to Athena after running a couple errands. It was close to where we were going and we'd been there recently and really enjoyed it. Tonight was no different.
We were greeted by a friendly, smiling and handsome host who seated us immediately. And I'll get this out of the way upfront, the servers, all men for what I noticed, are very handsome, friendly and outgoing, but then I'm the type that would notice that. BUT, that didn't influence my review.
Our waiter, Alex, greeted us promptly and quickly informed us we had just a few minutes left to take advantage of Happy Hour pricing on drinks and appetizers. We didn't know about Happy Hour and welcomed the suggestion. I started with a glass of Cab and my partner and I agreed on the Tzatziki appetizer. Both were fantastic. This is where the great service begins. Our appetizer really wasn't served with enough Pita Bread so our waiter came by and mentioned he had put in an order for a side of Pita because he didn't think we had enough. Who does that? The appetizer had barely been sat down at the table when he made us aware of our Pita Bread deficiency.
For dinner I ordered a Stuffed Chicken Breast with potatoes instead of rice. My partner chose the Greek Spaghetti and a cup of Avgolemono Soup. The soup showed up shortly thereafter and the waiter suggested squeezing some fresh lemon into it. A great suggestion and another point for the server.
Next up were the entree's which were huge. One very minor misstep is that mine came with rice and potatoes but no vegetables like I had ordered it. Moments later our waiter came by the table and said he had put in an order for a side of vegetables, "because they got that wrong". So, I didn't have to say a thing, he noticed it and took care of it within five minutes. How much better service can you get than that?
A couple other notes about the service: the busboy also stopped by a couple times to make sure we were satisfied and keep the water glasses full. When I got up to use the restroom the owner noticed I was looking around and showed me to the restroom, he didn't just point or give directions.
So, did I say Athena had great service? Just in case you missed it, the service was fantastic as was the food. Now get yourself in gear and get over there before you have to wait an hour for a table! Athena is the BEST.
