Today was a consult I had with dr Rojas as I wanted to get a iud. Dr herself was kind, however some of the staff was not well informed of friendly. Dr Rojas recommended I get a ultrasound to check for polyps before she placed a iud guided with the ultrasound. Doctor herself stated she could do it all on The day of the iud placement. Checking out the Brittney told me I would have to do the ultrasound to check for polyps and then come back the next day or following to get the iud placed. When I questioned them about getting approval from insurance to get it all done at once. She shut me down and said I could either pay just under $200 to do the ultrasound to rule out polyps on the day I got the "ultrasound guided " iud placed, or get it done in two visits. I called my insurance shortly after leaving and the prior authorization department confirned my knowledge that if they submitted a request With with the supporting medical document of what doctor wanted to do and why, than they would more than likely allow the extra time needed with the ultrasound that was being used to place the iud, to rule out polyps before the iud was placed, as it would be pointless to break it up in two visits and I would just be paying a extra copay. Iud was covered 100% per Shannon, but if broke up ultrasound would be a expense after insurance laid a portion. I received a call from the office manager of meadows woman center requesting I seek obstetrician services elsewhere due to this issue. Guess they don't like people who are knowledgeable in medical /insurance calling them out making me come in unnecessarily mutlitple visits and collecting more money from my copays require to pay.
I will be following back up with my insurance on the next working day to update my call with this new update
