| - This review applies only to the hotel; I generally don't gamble in TR casinos because their points system doesn't favor tables too well.
I stayed at Ballys because my infrequent TR play in Baltimore accrued enough points to comp my room for a Mon-Thurs stay in winter - which is totally fair because that's the off of the off-season. I still had to pay the resort fee of $85 total, but for 3 days, that's a steal.
The customer service was on point: I got an email the morning before I flew out that offered me a self check-in so that my keys would be ready when I arrived. Sure enough, we marched up to the concierge who not only had our keys ready, but even moved me to a room with a view of the Bellagio fountains upon request. I forget the gentleman's name, but he was awesome.
The room was clearly renovated and fairly swanky. Nice beds and nice decor when compared to older Strip hotels that haven't renovated since the 90s. The only problem with the room was that the water pressure was pretty bad - the shower was very weak - but other than that I really can't complain for what was basically a FREE room. Even if I were paying the regular going rate of I think $50/night or so, I'd still be pleased with the value here.
My general consensus is, while sadly TR does not compensate table players very well when compared to MGM, TR has the better hotel value. MGM has cheap hotels like Excalibur but they're in more remote locations and drop the ball in several places, or they have great hotels like Aria and Bellagio right across from Ballys, but you'll pay handsomely for them unless you come in on a Learjet with your name on it. TR casinos aren't bad, but I didn't play at Ballys due to the points system. Anyway, I'd recommend this place for people loyal to either company.
