| - I lived for quite a few years at one of R&B's properties. They were overall adequate, I'd rent from them again over some other, more infamous rental agencies in the area. But only if I had to. Maintenance staff in particular were responsive and good at fixing problems. Generally, R&B was good at giving notice about entering the apartment and did a good job with grounds maintenance, snow removal, etc. Some of the off-putting things were attitude from just two or three people at the main office--but unfortunately one was our designated community manager or whatever they're called, so we had to interact with her more than others. She was very unpleasant to deal with. On the flip side, there was a couple great people too, in particular, Colin. I was also annoyed by the tone of some of their signage trying to get tenants to comply with rules about garbage, parking, etc. They were finger-pointy and insinuated we were all either idiots or miscreants, when for the most part, building tenants/neighbors were following the rules. It just seemed like there were better, more customer-friendly ways to handle situations where a few people were causing problems without broadcasting negative messages to everyone like that. During the last two years we rented from them, R&B was having some issues with pinhole leaks in the plumbing in our building, which was a big nuisance--might be fixed now. R&B was very hands-off and unhelpful in dealing with the water bills we received for their water leak problem that we had no control over. We ate the cost for that and it was really uncool. And when we finally left, R&B didn't pay interest on our security deposit that they held for a number of years, which I'm pretty sure is a state law. They did however, give back the full security deposit, which was a relief. At that point, I was ready to just move on and didn't push back about the interest. Overall, I'd say things evened out to just OK. Could have been better, could have been worse. 2.5 stars.
