| - I love Italian food, so finding good spots in the Scottsdale area is always on my list. After reading all the great reviews of Giuseppe's, we decided to try it out. We went on a Saturday night and luckily got there by 5:40, because by 6pm, the place was packed (even the outside tables). Having grown up in the Northeast, Giuseppe's definitely gave me the feel of Italian restaurants I grew up with. So with that, I give Giuseppe's an A for atmosphere.
The service was okay. It was polite, but a little slow and not much attention was paid during the meal. I'm used to servers checking at least once to see if we need something. That did not happen until after we were finished with our meals. The one thing I was very disappointed with was the lack of attention from the owner. I watched as he went around the restaurant talking to people and asking how their food was. Although we were pushed a little out of the way, he certainly could have stopped by our table as well, but never did. That did not go unnoticed. For service, I give them a C.
As for the food, I got the baked ziti with tomato sauce and my husband got the chicken parmesan. The food literally came out five minutes after we ordered, which was a bit odd, but overall it was good. I give the sauce a B+, but the food overall more like a B-. The baked ziti did not have ricotta in it, which typically it does. Basically it was a bowl of pasta with some mozzarella melted on top. My husband's response to "how is it?" about his meal was "it's ok."
At the end of the day, I'll give Giuseppe's another try, but I can't rave about it the way others have.
