| - Mitchell's is the beloved local supplier of happiness, and this store embodies all that is warm and cheerful on a cold winter's day. You can probably find Mitchell's at a grocery or shop near you!
Along with the usual lineup of classic Mitchell's flavors (Caramel Sea Salt, Toasted Pistachio, Blue Cosmo), they round up some seasonal flavors (http://mitchellshomemade.com/current-seasonal-flavors/), some of which really should be offered year-round in my opinion. Some flavors can be found only in their packaged pint form (Great Lakes. Go for the Great Lakes. And then invite me over.), and you can buy Mitchell's cakes for the birthday boy/girl who's lucky to have you as their friend. I've heard their malts are good as well, but haven't gotten to try them yet! Fro-yo, you ask? They've got that too.
After several samples and much debate (Chocolate Peanut Butter Chunk vs. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk??) I got a Taster's Trio of Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk, Toasted Pistachio, and Bing Cherry Chocolate Chunk. For a portion that would have cost me easily $8 in SF, I paid just over $5. It seemed like almost too much after a massive lunch I was still digesting two hours later, but Mitchell's must mix in crack with their ice cream because I couldn't stop until the cup was empty. It's creamy without melting too quickly, and flavorful with just the right amount of sweetness. And if you do need water, there's a little station at the counter next to a wooden basket with magazines. I've liked all of their flavors so far, but I have to say I really like their Great Lakes, Toasted Pistachio, and Caramel Sea Salt.
The inside of this store is bright and family friendly, with just the right touch of earthiness with the wooden surfaces and little plants on tables. A nice refuge from the harsh reality of work/school life.
