| - so it's a monumental day when you see the phoenix across from work finally open its doors. there aren't too many java joints in the land of cleve that really get my blood a pumpin, but phoenix does a pretty good job of it.
but after several trips to this location since its opening, i'm sad to say i'm not as impressed as i wish i would have been. i'll esssplain.
regardless of what i'm about to say, let me start with this: phoenix coffee is far superior than the scary bucks of stars. i'm not a big fan of them, anyways. but the taste of phoenix coffee is really great-regardless of what drink you get. it could be a plain cup of joe, it could be a shake with espresso, it could be a frou frou concoction of chocolate, espresso, coffee, ice cream, whatever. it's good.
that being said....
over half the times i've been to this location (and that's probably about 10 or so now) the drink i've gotten has been either made incorrectly or made poorly. you can still taste the good phoenix flavor, but i think the baristas really need to improve their listening skills. today i ordered a speedball shake for a co-worker, and got a stuporball. not shake. she was pissed. i ordered a milky way last week, and walked away with a mocha swirl. and when you go into a joint expecting a certain flavor you've been craving like a fat kid craving cake, and don't walk out with that flavor, it can ruin your caffeinated dreams.
or lack thereof, i should say.
great location, great decor, great coffee. when they get it right.
